This policy covers this website (joinr.space) and the game at arena.joinr.space ("JOINR ARENA", "we", "us"). We keep as little about you as we can.
WHAT THE GAME KEEPS
- Your player name, and, if you set one, a password that claims it. Passwords are never stored as written: only a salted scrypt hash is kept on our server.
- Scores you make in a round, shown under your name on that arena's public leaderboard.
- Your profile photo, if you upload one: the browser crops it to a small square before it's sent, and it is shown to other players as your avatar (next to your name, and as your driver in RING ROAD).
- Your email, only if you add one to your profile. It is used for one thing: sending you a code when you ask to reset your password. Other players never see it, and we don't send newsletters or share it.
- Short server logs of who joins and leaves rooms (by player name) and, only when voice chat has trouble connecting, a technical report of the connection attempt, used to fix problems. Like any web server ours also sees your IP address and browser type when you connect; we don't use these to identify or track you.
We don't require your email address, and we never ask for your real name, your age or your location. We don't sell or rent information about you.
AVATARS AND GRAVATAR
A claimed name without a photo shows its Gravatar: players' browsers load it from gravatar.com using a one-way hash of the profile's email (never the email itself); without an email, a pixel face is drawn from a hash of the name. Gravatar's own privacy policy applies to those images.
ON YOUR DEVICE
Your browser keeps your player name and your settings (volumes, controller and voice settings) in its local storage so they're there next time, and the game is cached so it loads fast and can be installed. This stays on your device; clearing the site's data removes it.
VOICE CHAT
Voice chat is off until you turn it on, and the browser asks your permission for the microphone. Your voice goes directly between players' browsers (WebRTC) or, when a direct connection isn't possible, through our relay server. It is never recorded or stored. There is no text chat.
ADVERTISING AND COOKIES
We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site and between rounds in the game. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.

Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and in some US states), you're asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link that the consent message provides.
Other than the ads and the Google Fonts used for our lettering, we don't use analytics or tracking services.
VIDEOS
The controller guide and support pages show YouTube videos. Until you press play you only load a thumbnail image from YouTube's image servers; pressing play loads YouTube's player in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and Google's privacy policy applies to it.
CHILDREN
JOINR ARENA is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Voice chat is with other players online, so younger players should play with a parent's OK and the chat set up how the parent prefers (voice is off by default, and any player can be muted).
HOW LONG WE KEEP THINGS
Leaderboard scores and claimed names are kept while the game runs. Server logs are kept for a short time to fix problems and then deleted. If you'd like your name, photo, email and scores removed, contact us and tell us the name. You can remove your photo and email yourself under 👤 PROFILE at any time.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Because we only hold a player name, a password hash, scores and (if you added them) a photo and an email, the quickest way is to contact us with the player name.
CHANGES
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
